A Board Case Study
H&M, one of the world’s largest fashion retailers with roughly 5,000 stores in 74 markets, needed to modernize workforce planning to keep up with rapidly changing customer behavior, regulatory shifts and a huge increase in data and operational complexity. The challenge was to provide agile, stakeholder-specific planning that balanced high in-store service levels with efficient logistics, while scaling across many users and markets.
H&M built a self-service, iterative solution on the Board platform—evolving from BPM and function planning to a consolidated SYNAPS system—delivering 15-minute data refreshes, predictive and prescriptive analytics, and flexible 13–26 week scheduling. The outcome was faster, more accurate decision-making (growing from 12 to 160 KPIs), scalable performance (handling hundreds of thousands of procedures daily), quick adaptation to regulatory changes, and improved staffing efficiency and customer experience.
