Flexible, Cloud-Based Data Analysis at HM Courts and Tribunals Service

Her Majesty’s Courts and Tribunals Service (HMCTS), part of the UK Ministry of Justice, faced slow, spreadsheet-driven reporting and fragmented legacy systems that made unit costing, scenario analysis, and timely financial insight difficult. Static formats and multiple HR/finance systems prevented the finance team from quickly consolidating data or drilling into the detail needed to set prices and control costs.

HMCTS implemented the cloud-based Board decision-making platform to unify BI, planning, and predictive analytics, and built a total absorption cost model with 14 allocation methods. The new solution automates consolidation (running in about 5 minutes versus 112 man-hours per month previously), delivers deeper, multi-dimensional cost and pricing insights, speeds reporting, and is highly adaptable—enabling HMCTS to expand into budgeting and predictive forecasting.
