BOARD for Hein Gericke Using Operational BI to achieve Optimum Stock Levels

Hein Gericke is an international retail and own-label trading company founded in 1970, operating more than 150 shops across nine European countries and offering around 50,000 items of clothing, helmets, equipment and accessories. Facing a buyer’s market, the company needed to overhaul its supply chain to improve product availability while minimizing capital tied up in inventory—moving from ad hoc, country-based buying and indiscriminate stock distribution to demand-driven planning, centralised purchasing and rolling category-based forecasts.

Working with SDG Consulting, Hein Gericke implemented the BOARD Corporate Performance Management toolkit, integrating data from Microsoft Dynamics AX, legacy systems and external market sources to deliver demand-based MRP, rolling forecasts and mixed top-down/bottom-up planning. The system automates purchase-order proposals, simulates future stock trends and standardises planning across departments; adoption by 70+ users has made planning faster and more market-oriented and delivered a 20% improvement in stock turnover, while becoming the central decision-making platform for the business.
