United Energy and Multinet Gas (UEMG), which together supply energy to eastern Melbourne and the Mornington Peninsula, faced slow, error-prone month-end financial reporting driven by SAP extracts, a legacy BI warehouse and many Excel spreadsheets. Producing P&L, balance sheet and cost‑centre reports took three to four days and required extensive manual intervention, with late postings forcing full reruns. UEMG wanted straightforward, reliable financial reporting with the option to extend to budgeting and planning.

After a Gartner-guided vendor review and a proof‑of‑concept, UEMG implemented the BOARD platform in a finance-led, IT-funded project (30 days plus a month of parallel running). BOARD’s SAP integration and self-service tools cut data extraction and reporting time dramatically, enabled ad‑hoc reporting in minutes, eliminated double-handling of forecasts and reduced errors (saving, for example, half a day per month on the cash‑flow report). The project was delivered on time and under budget, and the solution has since been expanded into other business areas.
