A Board Case Study
Kiel, the state capital of Schleswig-Holstein with about 247,863 inhabitants and a €1.2 billion budget, faced fragmented, Excel-based reporting across departments and no city-wide reporting strategy. Different data sources, manual preparation and a historical-only view tied up staff capacity and limited timely, fact-based decision-making.
In partnership with linkFISH, Kiel implemented the Board platform to create “COAST,” a centralized reporting and forecasting solution rolled out in three months that integrates budget, social and statistical data and provides ad‑hoc analysis plus an interactive dashboard for politicians. The initiative standardized processes, cut manual effort, tripled the frequency of budget forecasts, improved information quality and transparency, and is now used by over 130 internal users with ongoing, business-owned development.
