Case Study: ZF Friedrichshafen AG achieves an enterprise-wide Single Point of Truth for planning and reporting with Board

A Board Case Study

Preview of the ZF Friedrichshafen AG Case Study

An Enterprise-wide Management Information System at ZF Group

ZF Friedrichshafen AG, a global automotive supplier, faced fragmented, Excel-based reporting across seven divisions and numerous strategic functions. The company needed a Single Point of Truth, consistent layouts and KPIs, intuitive access to drive user adoption, and a robust role-and-rights model so employees only see data relevant to them.

ZF selected Board after evaluating ~60 BI tools and used an agile rollout to build a centralized Management Information System integrated with SAP BW, supporting strategic and operational planning and seven reporting applications. The platform—used by about 1,200 employees—offers role-based navigation, “storytelling” dashboards, write-back to SAP, drill-downs and contextual comments, delivering centralized, pull-based reporting, faster comparisons and full transparency and control of data.
