BoardEffect Helps Early Adopters Stay Current and Confident

American Public Media, the nation’s largest owner/operator of public radio stations and producer/distributor of national programming, faced a time-consuming, paper-heavy board materials process in 2012 that relied on costly FedEx and couriers and left directors unable to receive timely updates. To modernize governance and reduce administrative burden, American Public Media selected BoardEffect’s board portal (accessible on PCs and via its iPad app).

BoardEffect delivered an electronic board portal that made distribution immediate, cut printing and courier costs, and improved board preparedness and usability; board members now access materials anywhere, conduct surveys and produce professional reports, and many have permanently moved away from paper. Since implementing BoardEffect in 2012, the organization has seen strong adoption, easier upgrades with few access questions, and expanded use of the platform’s tools across multiple boards.
