Whitbread PLC, the UK’s largest hospitality company, needed to replace an ageing internal web‑based system for distributing board papers and bring FTSE‑100 best practice to its board processes. After evaluating several options, Whitbread selected Board Intelligence and implemented its Read and Manage board portal and pack‑production system to make digital board packs accessible, secure and easier to collate.

Board Intelligence delivered an app‑based portal with simple pack collation, efficient distribution and industry‑leading security. As a result, pack production fell from a lengthy manual process to “only a couple of hours,” directors (including overseas non‑executives) can access papers as soon as they’re published, and the Secretariat reports considerable time savings; Whitbread now also uses the portal as a secure repository for market‑sensitive information. The successful rollout and responsive Board Intelligence support have led to wider adoption across the Executive Committee, Costa and the Costa Foundation.
