A BNSF Logistics Case Study
International Train Manufacturing Company, an international manufacturer of regional train multiple unit trains and trams, needed a more efficient way to transport eight complete train consists from its facility to its customer. The company also needed a convenient, cost-efficient unloading location because its own facility was not yet complete. BNSF Logistics was brought in to support the rail transport planning and securement needs for the project.
BNSF Logistics engineered clearance drawings, designed a reusable securement system, and recommended the best route and unloading location for the five-unit passenger train consists. The solution maximized space on 89-foot flat railcars, reduced the number of railcars required per consist, and met AAR Open Top Loading Rules. With BNSF Logistics supervision on-site, the consists were loaded safely and delivered on time and within budget, with eight consists successfully પહોંચed to Fort Worth, Texas.
