A BNSF Logistics Case Study
Global Aerospace Company needed to move two satellites within the United States—one from the west coast and one from the east coast—to French Guiana in South America. BNSF Logistics handled the complex aerospace relocation, which required specialized air freight coordination for the satellites and their ground support equipment.
BNSF Logistics proposed a more efficient transport plan by moving both satellites together in one Antonov aircraft while shipping the accompanying equipment in a separate, smaller 747. This allowed both satellites and support gear to arrive simultaneously, saved the customer $500,000, and completed the move three days ahead of schedule while reducing personnel time and cost.
