A BNSF Logistics Case Study
Leading International Engineering Company, a leading international engineering company that provides mill systems for mining projects, needed a logistics partner to deliver and set up two mill systems for a gold mine in Northern Ontario, Canada. The project involved about 32,000 freight tons of equipment sourced from North America and around the world, including more than 18,000 freight tons from Europe, making direct shipment costly and complex.
BNSF Logistics developed a consolidated shipping plan by coordinating with manufacturers, suppliers, port operators, and agents across Europe to move all non-North American freight onto two vessels for delivery to one Canadian port. The cargo arrived on time, was transferred to the site by truck or rail, and the project was completed without recorded damages and $1,000,000 under budget; BNSF Logistics has since continued working with the customer on a continuous delivery contract.
