A globally operating project logistics company needed a safe rail solution for a very heavy, complex vessel and a cartridge secured in a wooden container. The oversized dimensions and axle load restrictions along the route created major clearance and transport challenges, so it turned to BNSF Logistics for engineering, securement, and project support services.

BNSF Logistics designed an approved clearance configuration and custom securement plan, including bolster plates, saddles, counterweighting, and other specialized restraint components to meet AAR Open Top Loading Rules. With BNSF Logistics also providing project management and field services, the cargo was delivered successfully without incident, steel was reused to help reduce costs, and the project improved understanding of unique securement techniques.
