The Core Shopping Centre - Customer Case Study

The Core Shopping Centre in Leeds needed a waste provider that could support its high daily footfall while improving recycling and reducing waste costs. In 2015, B&M Waste Services was appointed to review and upgrade the centre’s waste management approach, with a focus on recycling-led solutions and better segregation of waste streams.

B&M Waste Services implemented a site-specific solution that included a B&M Waste Station for food waste, a drop-front baler for cardboard, and clearly labelled 1100-litre containers for general waste, dry mixed recycling, and plastic. The changes increased recycling performance, reduced collection frequency, and improved health and safety by addressing heavy bins; as a result, The Core now achieves 90% diversion from landfill and has saved the equivalent of 19 trees in carbon impact over the last 12 months.
