A B&M Waste Case Study
Parrs Wood High School, the largest Local Authority maintained state school in Greater Manchester, needed a better way to manage waste across its large campus, with nearly 1,900 students, staff, and community visitors generating significant recycling and sanitary demands. B&M Waste was brought in to help the school improve recycling, reduce landfill waste, cut costs, and lower its carbon footprint through a total waste management solution.
B&M Waste carried out a full audit and introduced internal recycling bins, general and recyclable FEL containers, food recycling bins, WEEE collection, and a metal recycling service that also supported a charity rebate. B&M Waste also worked with the school’s CO2 Committee to drive engagement through education campaigns and tree planting. The results were significant: recycling rose from 0% to 85.74% in 17 months, and the partnership added 133 tonnes of CO2 savings per year, helping Parrs Wood High School move 10 years ahead of national carbon reduction targets.
