A B&M Waste Case Study
Midlands Arts Centre (MAC), a large arts complex in Birmingham with theatres, a cinema, galleries, classes and more, needed help improving its waste strategy. Its previous setup used multiple containers, but Dry Mixed Recycling was being contaminated and could no longer be recycled properly. MAC turned to B&M Waste for a more efficient, carbon-neutral waste service.
B&M Waste redesigned the system to focus on separate cardboard and food waste collection, with clearly labelled containers in key waste areas and food caddies for kitchen waste. The result was a smoother operation, lower general waste costs thanks to lighter bins, and 100% diversion of waste from landfill. MAC also benefited from recycling cardboard into new cardboard, food waste being sent to anaerobic digestion for biogas, and a useful environmental report showing recycling levels and carbon savings.
