Mersey Care NHS Foundation Trust, which serves more than 11 million people across the North West, needed a secure way to manage confidential healthcare documents while staying compliant with the Data Protection Act and GDPR. With sensitive information coming from 84 sites and more than 7,600 staff, the Trust turned to B&M Waste’s secure shredding service to help protect patient data and support its high standards of care.

B&M Waste audited the sites and provided lockable consoles to 30 Mersey Care locations, with regular collections by SVS-checked drivers. Materials were shredded to BS:EN 15713 standards and 100% recycled, with certificates of destruction and quarterly recycling reports supplied for audit and compliance. The service helped Mersey Care increase diversion from landfill and contributed to a carbon saving of 491,029 kg, equivalent to 398 trees.
