Manchester Fort Shopping Park - Customer Case Study

Manchester Fort Shopping Park, a modern retail park near Manchester city centre, needed to improve the efficiency and sustainability of its waste management programme. Working with vendor B&M Waste, the site looked to reduce collection disruption, lower carbon emissions, and improve recycling performance across its retail units and food outlets.

B&M Waste introduced a redesigned service with larger front end loader containers, colour-coded waste segregation, an on-site recycling station, and scheduled food waste bins, supported by staff guidance and site planning. This cut collections from three times per week to once per week, helped Manchester Fort achieve 89.07% recycled/recovered from 12,232 kg of waste in May 2014, and set the site up for 100% diversion from landfill through B&M Waste’s RDF facility.
