Mothercare, a global retailer for parents and young children with around 1,500 stores in more than 60 countries, operates multi-channel sales via UK stores, direct channels and an extensive international franchise network. Rapid international growth (including plans for 200 stores in India) and a diverse supplier base—from small sole traders to multinationals—created a complex, regionally varied supply chain that needed better integration, visibility and low-cost electronic trading for suppliers with limited technology.
Mothercare implemented BluJay’s web-based Commerce platform (building on a 20-year EDI relationship) to manage POs, ASNs, invoices and integrations with merchandising and warehouse systems, plus MessageBroker for EDI and FTP connectivity. The system now handles about 5,000 POs per week and 1,900 supplier invoices per day, supports drop-shipping and franchise data exchange, eliminates duplicate data entry and VAN costs, and makes trading simple for suppliers—accelerating visibility, efficiency and international rollout.
