Global Washington Helps Members Alleviate Poverty with the Help of Esri’s Mapping Solution and VMware Cloud

Global Washington is a membership organization that helps Washington state nonprofits collaborate to alleviate global poverty, but it lacked the budget and IT expertise to build an effective collaboration platform. Its existing database was limited and messy—full of duplicates and vague entries—while staff had neither the capacity nor desire to host and maintain servers.

Esri cleaned and restructured the data and built a database-driven GIS application with front-end constraints and an immersive mapping interface, delivered as SaaS on VMware vSphere infrastructure hosted by Bluelock (ArcGIS Server, PostgreSQL, Tomcat). Deployed in about six months, the cloud solution freed Global Washington from server management, improved member visibility and coordination, reduced program duplication, and strengthened the organization’s ability to support its mission.
