3DX-Ray Ltd launches AXIS-CXi in 10 months with Bluefrog Design

3DX-Ray Ltd, a UK manufacturer of X-ray inspection and security systems, required a product design consultancy to help them develop a new, state-of-the-art cabinet-based screening system that would strengthen their market position. They tasked Bluefrog Design with creating the new AXIS-CXi product range, which needed to have a unified visual brand language and be suitable for front-of-house deployment in prestigious environments like hotels and museums.

Bluefrog Design applied its product development service, including industrial design and engineering, to deliver a complete solution. Working remotely during the Covid-19 pandemic, their team packaged the technology into a compact, cost-effective design with only 60 main components, resulting in four product variants. The successful AXIS-CXi range was launched in 2020, receiving worldwide orders and a European Product Design Award, which strengthened 3DX-Ray's position as a market leader.
