Travel South Dakota, the state’s official tourism marketing organization, needed a better way to clean up and unify visitor data, improve segmentation, and deliver more personalized experiences across its digital channels. To address these goals, the team turned to BlueConic’s CDP to make sense of data from multiple sources and better understand first-time visitors, repeat visitors, and people showing interest in specific destinations or activities.
With BlueConic, Travel South Dakota built behavior-based segments, automated targeted lightboxes and email series, and synced audiences daily to Salesforce Marketing Cloud for more efficient email targeting. The results have been strong: the team grew its subscriber list by nearly 4,000, achieved a 39% open rate and 4.2% click-to-open rate on personalized emails, and drove over 2,000 users to the site in five months with much higher engagement than average visitors.
