NOLA.com (along with The Advocate), the digital sites for Capital City Press, needed a better way to balance subscription acquisition and retention. The publisher lacked unified, actionable first‑party data and cross‑channel orchestration to make subscription offers at the right time, so they partnered with BlueConic (a customer data platform) to collect interest, behavioral and subscription-status data and power personalized outreach.
BlueConic consolidated consented first‑party profiles and—using BlueConic Listeners and Connections—integrated with Pushly and an Amazon S3 feed to identify desktop push opt‑ins, avoid messaging current subscribers, and activate dynamic segments. The first push campaign delivered a 1.76% CTR, six direct conversions from a campaign that took five minutes to build, and about $3,500/month in incremental revenue, while enabling automated drip and retargeting workflows driven by BlueConic.
