A Single Source of Asset Information at Total

Total SA, specifically Total Olefins Antwerp, needed a way to automate and streamline its manual, paper-based management of change process and replace an unsupported document management system. Engineering information was hard to access, stored as paper copies for operations and maintenance, and not directly linked to plant assets. Total chose BlueCielo and its BlueCielo Meridian platform, along with the Asset Management Module and Advanced Project Workflow, to centralize asset information lifecycle management.

BlueCielo implemented a single source of asset information in six months, migrating more than 300,000 documents and 150,000 objects, linking them to SAP PM, and integrating AutoCAD and Microsoft Office. The rollout was completed on time and within budget, trained over 120 employees, and enabled 600 more to retrieve asset information through BlueCielo Explorer. The result was better change control, improved access to up-to-date engineering data, and reduced document exchange costs by €3 million per year.
