A BlueCat Networks Case Study
Swisslos, one of Switzerland’s two lottery companies based in Basel, operates ~3,500 retail points of sale and must meet World Lottery Association certification to guarantee the integrity of drawings and tickets. Faced with third-party-managed networks that caused weeks-long installation delays and the need to preserve static IP “fingerprints” for nearly 4,000 gaming terminals while readdressing them onto a new VPN, Swisslos needed a way to modernize and automate its distributed network without resorting to manual, paper-based processes.
Swisslos built its own VPN, deployed zero-touch signage devices, and implemented BlueCat Address Manager with a BlueCat API integration into its ERP to automatically allocate, name and readdress IPs; FQDNs and device data are synced into monitoring tools. The result: points of sale are network-ready in hours, two network engineers are freed from routine IP tasks, manual errors and QA overhead are reduced, and the network is now automated, auditable and scalable for future expansion.
