Case Study: Edeka SouthWest achieves centralized, automated IPAM and reliable DNS/DHCP with BlueCat Networks

A BlueCat Networks Case Study

Preview of the Edeka SouthWest Case Study

German Grocery Giant, Edeka SouthWest, Deployed a Centralized, Automated BlueCat IPAM System

Edeka SouthWest, a major German grocery group operating over 1,350 stores and multiple warehouses, faced growing strain on its network as expanding ERP systems and new devices created a surge in IP-address demand. IP address management was handled manually with spreadsheets, making it difficult for IT to track addresses reliably and support the company’s 24/7 retail and logistics operations.

Working with implementation partner N3K, Edeka SouthWest deployed BlueCat IPAM and DNS/DHCP services in three phases—pilot, manufacturing/subsidiaries, then retail—rolling out about 70 appliances and integrated Wi‑Fi/VoIP with Active Directory integration and high-availability failover. The centralized, automated solution delivered accurate, real-time IP data, greater flexibility and scalability, reliable upgrades, and streamlined operations; the IT team now manages address services centrally and plans future IPv6 migration and continued expansion.
