The Weitz Company Standardizes Quantity Takeoffs to Improve Information Flow with Bluebeam Revu

The Weitz Company, a long-established construction firm focused on lean improvement, needed to standardize 2D quantity takeoffs so preconstruction data could flow downstream. Their existing measurement software was used by only a few estimators, creating data silos and forcing redundant recapture of information across teams and offices.

Weitz adopted Bluebeam Revu—leveraging familiar PDF markup tools, Revu’s measurement features, custom columns, Tool Chest, Spaces and profiles—to create firm-wide takeoff standards that export to Excel or PDF. The change enabled consistent training, easy sharing of takeoff data across offices, and handoff of estimates to project teams, improving information flow and allowing teams to track performance against original estimates.
