Skanska Deploys Bluebeam Revu on its Largest Project To Date, the New Karolinska Solna Project in Stockholm, Sweden

Skanska, one of the world’s largest construction and project development groups, is building its largest project to date: the 14 billion SEK New Karolinska Solna hospital in Stockholm, a 320,000 m² complex with seven simultaneous phases, nearly 2,000 staff at peak and over 40,000 drawings. Managing that volume of documentation and providing up-to-date information in the field made traditional paper workflows impractical, so Skanska needed a way to digitally organize drawings, enable fast search and industry-standard markups, and get current documents to crews without printing.

Skanska deployed Bluebeam Revu to index and link PDFs in SharePoint, letting users search for references and click comments to open related documents instantly. Field teams use Revu’s customizable annotations, Tool Chest punch-key symbols and Bluebeam Studio Sessions on iPads to perform real-time room checks across 8,000 rooms, coordinate second-wall work, eliminate about 20,000 printed sheets, and reduce query response time to minutes—demonstrating Revu’s ability to scale for very large, document-intensive projects.
