Fresno State builds Bluebeam tech-ready AEC talent with student-led user groups

Fresno State's construction management program faced a digital skills gap, where students, particularly first-generation college attendees, lacked familiarity with industry-standard digital tools for document management and workflows. To address this, they partnered with Bluebeam Software, Inc., utilizing Bluebeam Revu to bridge the gap between academic preparation and real-world job site expectations.

The solution, implemented with support from the Bluebeam Academic Program, centered on creating a student-led Bluebeam User Group (BUG) and Technology Hub. This peer-supported ecosystem integrated Bluebeam into the curriculum for takeoffs and estimating, boosted student confidence and leadership, and provided a competitive edge in internships. The program successfully created a reputation where employers recognize Fresno State students as being proficient and ready with Bluebeam and related technologies.
