CannonDesign Manages a $2 Billion Hospital Design Review with Bluebeam Revu

CannonDesign, partnered with NEUF architect(e)s, led design delivery for the $2 billion, 3.5 million sq. ft. Centre hospitalier de l'Université de Montréal (CHUM) — a 14,000‑room, 5,900‑page project spanning more than 140 departments. With thousands of drawings, multiple multi‑hour departmental reviews (totaling over 1,200 hours for room reviews alone), and slow paper‑based QA/QC and stamping workflows, the team needed a streamlined, auditable way to coordinate reviews and meet tight deadlines.

They adopted Bluebeam Revu and Studio to run live and virtual Studio Sessions, use room templates and Revu’s Calibrate tool, share custom markup toolsets, produce lightweight 3D PDFs from Revit/Codebook, and apply seals via Batch Apply Stamp. The digital workflow created a single source of truth, enabled real‑time collaboration (including remote iPad reviews), and produced measurable gains: roughly 2–3 weeks saved per review, a dramatically shortened QA/QC timeline, and stamp application reduced from an all‑night task to under an hour.
