Accounting Giant Grant Thornton's Tax Practice Goes Paperless with PDF Editor Bluebeam Revu

Grant Thornton LLP’s U.S. tax practice set out in 2010 to standardize workflows and drastically cut paper through its Tax Symphony® initiative—a critical task given that tax engagement files had historically been 3–4" thick. To go paperless they needed a professional PDF editor that offered easy annotation and digital signatures, seamless SharePoint integration, and affordable group-wide licensing.

They chose Bluebeam Revu Standard to view, markup and sign PDFs and to integrate directly with SharePoint for fast retrieval and check-in. Centralized features like the Tool Chest allowed standardized custom markups for nearly 1,200 users, speeding reviews and improving final deliverables with hyperlinks and bookmarks. As a result, Grant Thornton achieved a 40% reduction in paper use (from 2.5 to 1.5 trees per employee annually), converted bulky paper files to electronic records, and improved efficiency across the tax practice.
