TE Connectivity Launches Global Sales and Operations Planning Process With Its Automotive Business

TE Connectivity (TE) needed to standardize and scale sales and operations planning (S&OP) across diverse business units that were each using different processes and tools, duplicating data and lacking a common platform. The company required a solution that could handle multiple hierarchies, varied product/customer structures, ERP integration and robust exception management; after a vendor evaluation, TE selected JDA Sales & Operations Planning and began pilots in its Automotive EMEA business (25,000 SKUs) and the smaller Circuit Protection unit (4,000 SKUs).

Using JDA and consulting/training support, TE instituted a monthly, five-step S&OP process and an 18‑month rolling forecast down to part-number level, enabling more accurate capacity planning and faster response to demand swings. Results included an 8% year‑over‑year improvement in ship‑to‑request performance for Automotive, better forecast accuracy through consensus planning, improved inventory turns alongside increased revenue, and ongoing global rollouts to extend these gains.
