Swedish Retailer Axfood Partners With Blue Yonder to Create High-Impact Space Plans for Over 1,000 Stores

Axfood, Sweden’s second-largest grocery retailer with 250 company-owned Willys and Hemköp stores plus about 820 proprietor-run partner stores, faced the challenge of managing space planning consistently across more than 1,000 outlets. A nine-person planning team was responsible for 200–300 planograms each, updated multiple times a year, and needed a way to ensure uniform, high-performing shelf layouts despite varying levels of store collaboration.

Axfood implemented JDA Space Planning and is piloting JDA Planogram Generator to produce store-specific, automated planograms and incorporate local assortments. The solution has increased planner productivity, improved shopper visibility and product mix, and driven higher sales and margins in stores that follow JDA-generated plans—freeing store staff to focus on customers while boosting overall profitability.
