Pepsi-Cola & National Brands Ltd., an independent New Jersey-based distributor and bottler of PepsiCo, Dr Pepper Snapple Group and other branded and private-label beverages, faced rising wages and operational challenges from a large and growing SKU mix, limited inventory visibility, breakage and inefficient, paper-based labor tracking. To address productivity, cost and inventory-rotation issues, the company evaluated WMS/WFM options and selected JDA’s Warehouse Management and Warehouse Labor Management solutions.

With JDA’s software and consulting, Pepsi-Cola achieved 100% inventory visibility, implemented FEFO tracking and voice-directed picking, and replaced manual checkout with express checkout for deliveries. Results included a 15% reduction in warehouse labor costs (despite union wage increases), 15–20% lower shrinkage and breakage, a 24% reduction in warehouse headcount, faster driver turnarounds and improved load accuracy—giving the company greater accountability, efficiency and a competitive edge.
