A Blue Yonder Case Study
Mark’s Work Wearhouse, a Canadian retailer founded in 1977 and now part of Canadian Tire with more than 385 stores and growing e-commerce, faced merchandising challenges as its assortment and geography expanded. Manual planning and vendor-driven ordering left stores with stranded stock in some locations and shortages in others, while a customer promise to deliver out-of-stock items (Mark’s FastFind) was costly to fulfill across Canada’s vast distances.
Mark’s implemented JDA solutions — including JDA Demand, JDA Fulfillment, JDA Size Scaling and JDA Portfolio Merchandise Management — to enable store-level, weekly consumer-demand forecasting, size-based assortment planning and automated replenishment. The changes drove tangible results: three quarters of record top-line sales (Q1–Q3 2012), inventory units down 8.3% versus last year, a 29% cut in pre-pack cartons for Spring 2013, an 8% reduction in distribution and transportation spend, improved margins and stronger positioning for future growth.
