Federated Co-operatives Limited (FCL) is a member-owned wholesaler serving about 235 retail co‑operatives across Western Canada with a complex supply chain that includes regional distribution centers, manufacturing plants, a refinery and perishable product lines. FCL needed to speed new product introductions, optimize inventory and turns, reduce spoilage and maintain high service levels while modernizing processes (including replacing paper planograms).

FCL implemented JDA’s Retail Planning and Intelligent Fulfillment suite—including space/planogramming, Web Publisher, Demand, Fulfillment and Order Optimization—supported by JDA Consulting and Education to integrate space planning with replenishment and enable a paperless workflow. The initiative delivered strong results: CA$2.5M improvement in forward‑buy margins in one year, CA$500K annual savings from web planogram delivery, a 14% reduction in perishables spoilage, a 2.6 increase in inventory turns and a 1.2% service‑level gain while maintaining ~98% food service levels during the transition.
