Delphi Automotive PLC, a global supplier of complex electrical and electronic vehicle systems (including multi-mile wiring harnesses), needed to support growing customer demand for customization while speeding deliveries and cutting internal costs. Meeting build-to-order sequencing for OEM assembly lines was becoming difficult with manual processes, limited visibility and high risk of errors and rework.

Delphi implemented JDA Build to Order (with JDA Consulting Services), an automated decision-support system that maps optimal production and logistics plans, generates manifests, performs engineering plausibility checks, and enforces packaging/loading rules. The solution reduced order-to-delivery time from 34 days to six, increased production efficiency, lowered inventory, improved quality and safety, cut rework costs, and provided end-to-end visibility across global sites and some 30 active car-line projects.
