Blue Yonder Warehouse Management Underpins Supply Chain Improvements at B&Q

B&Q, a major UK home-improvement retailer with 359 stores and part of Kingfisher plc, needed to modernize a 15‑year‑old, largely paper-based logistics network that managed more than 100,000 SKUs from ~600 vendors and dispatched daily trailer loads to stores. The company sought a flexible warehouse management solution to provide real-time inventory visibility, improve stock accuracy and availability, and support cross-dock, consolidation and high-volume store replenishment.

B&Q implemented JDA Warehouse Management with JDA Consulting and Education services, rolling the solution out to five regional consolidation centers and multiple distribution centers, adding ASN/EDI and a vendor web portal and eliminating paper processes. The program delivered increased productivity and inventory accuracy, better product availability in stores, and network-wide cost reductions (projected at about €10M per year), while laying the foundation for omni-channel fulfillment.
