Ace Hardware Transforms Its Supply Chain and Reduces Replenishment and Safety-Stock Inventory by $27 Million

Ace Hardware, the world’s largest retailer-owned hardware cooperative with more than 4,400 stores and $3.45 billion in wholesale sales, needed to modernize a fragmented supply chain as it expanded globally. The retailer was managing domestic and import replenishment with separate systems and required time‑phased forecasting, multi‑echelon/multi‑tier planning and a single, accurate forecast to support growing international procurement and its CPFR program.

Ace implemented JDA Demand and JDA Fulfillment alongside its JDA Advanced Warehouse Replenishment to create consolidated, weekly time‑phased forecasting, improved vendor collaboration and flexible global network planning. The project reduced inventory by $27 million (including $11 million in import inventory redeployment and $16 million planned domestic reductions), modestly improved import service levels, cut redistribution center space and saved $475,000 annually while enabling scalable, optimized replenishment processes.
