Revolutionizing Packaging Processes For Hormel Foods Corporation

Hormel Foods Corporation, a global food and meat products company, faced slow, error-prone packaging workflows driven by paper-based label and artwork routing—physical folders, keylines and proofs were often lost or delayed and there was no centralized digital brand asset store. Seeking traceability and transparency without reengineering existing processes, Hormel began evaluating digital asset management and workflow solutions.

Hormel selected BLUE (rebranded as CP3X) and rolled it out in phases, adding a Digital Asset Manager for brandmarks, dielines, keylines, scans and approvals and using train‑the‑trainer sessions to ensure adoption. Today the system supports 575+ active users (including 170 external), manages 220+ brands and ~40,000 assets, and in 2012 handled ~3,000 projects with nearly 30,000 downloads. Benefits include a 97% right‑first‑time rate on keyline routings, full audit trails, real‑time collaborative review, improved reporting/search, and scalable, configurable workflows.
