IRS Truck and Trailer - Customer Case Study

IRS Truck and Trailer (IRS) is a fleet-focused maintenance and repair service that had grown dependent on a paper-based, multi-copy work order system. As work orders passed between front desk, technicians, stores and accounting, information had to be manually updated, parts reconciled and invoices keyed—often taking weeks and creating inefficiencies. The vendor challenge was to replace and integrate these fragmented processes into a single automated business management system.

In 2000 IRS implemented Blue Link ERP with customizations to track multiple vehicles per customer, store industry service codes and estimate hours, record technician labor directly on work orders, and manage parts with automatic purchase orders linked to work orders. The integrated system eliminated most manual reconciliation, enabled same-day invoicing when work is completed, provided productivity reporting for management, and significantly increased operational efficiency.
