Bermuda Import & Export (BIECO) is a family-owned importer founded in 1949 that supplies perishables — produce, seafood, groceries and alcohol — to restaurants, hotels and stores across Bermuda’s 21-square-mile market. BIECO brings in two produce containers weekly that must be pre-cleared through H.M. Customs with a deposit (1% of the normal duty rate), but the company’s manual spreadsheet process for tracking invoices and Customs details was slow (about four hours), error-prone and risked delivery delays and lengthy returns of deposits.

BIECO engaged Blue Link to build a custom solution integrated with its accounting system and updated for new Customs procedures. The software auto-generates Customs Declaration Forms, vouchers and payment amounts from purchase orders, cutting the process to 3–5 minutes (line-item checks now take ~30 minutes), eliminating staffing replacement, improving costing accuracy to the penny, streamlining reporting and tracking, and producing smoother interactions with Customs.
