Alere reduces diagnosis time from 12 weeks to 3 days with Blue Frontier

Blue Frontier was approached by Alere, a medical technology company, to help address a critical challenge. Alere, in partnership with the Elizabeth Glaser Pediatric AIDS Foundation, needed to drastically reduce the time to diagnose and treat HIV in infants across Africa. Their existing paper-based system took up to 12 weeks, and they required a robust solution to automate and connect their Alere q devices and results management via the Alere Data Point portal.

Blue Frontier developed a secure, cost-effective hub-and-spoke solution using the latest Microsoft .NET and SQL technologies. They integrated the devices into the portal, created a system to route validated results to remote SMS printers, and implemented a robust permissions model for security. This solution reduced the treatment time from 12 weeks to just 3 days, enabling immediate anti-viral treatment and saving countless infant lives.
