Case Study: Michelin achieves €3.3M in VAT recoveries and global tax digitalisation with Blue dot

A Blue dot Case Study

Preview of the Michelin Case Study

How Michelin transformed tax data into strategic business decisions

Michelin, the world’s second-largest tyre manufacturer with €22B revenue, 300+ entities and 125K employees, faced limited visibility into global travel & expense (T&E) VAT recovery, inadequate invoice quality and no internal resources to run a large remediation project. To address this, Michelin selected Blue dot’s VAT digitalisation and recovery platform to centralise transactional data and recover foreign VAT without heavy internal involvement.

Blue dot digitised and centralised Michelin’s T&E data, onboarding over 500K invoices and delivering a portal for continuous visibility and compliance management. The implementation enabled Michelin to recover €3,318,088, cut invoice disqualification from 42% to 26% (a 16% improvement), expand coverage to 28 entities and maintain clean regulatory reviews — all while minimising demand on Michelin’s internal teams.
