Test Valley Borough Council needed a technology solution to support its flexible working programme, which included a variety of staff schedules and remote work options. The council partnered with vendor Blue Chip to implement Citrix XenApp, a Desktop as a Service solution, to enable employees to work effectively from any location on any device.

Blue Chip helped deploy a thin client environment using Dell Wyse terminals, which was first trialed with 50 users and then expanded to over 250. This solution from Blue Chip led to significant benefits including a reduction in staff sickness, lower ICT power consumption, and fewer commuter miles. A staff survey showed 77% welcomed the new flexible working approach.
