Adidas, together with Parley, needed an innovative way to educate customers about ocean pollution and their mission to reduce plastic waste. To do this they embedded NFC chips into the Ultraboost Parley shoe and partnered with Blue Bite to deliver an NFC-based, product-triggered digital experience.

Blue Bite built an in-depth mobile experience accessed by tapping a device to the shoe’s heel cap, delivering exclusive content and a pledge mechanism so customers could learn about plastic pollution and commit to action. The Blue Bite solution enabled adidas and Parley to engage buyers at the point of product, raise awareness of their sustainability mission, and capture direct customer pledges (no public quantitative metrics were reported).
