TD Ottawa Jazz Festival, a 10-day event that draws 300,000+ attendees and relies on over 600 volunteers, faced growing complexity in recruiting, scheduling, and communicating with staff. To simplify operations, event manager Julian Selody turned to Bloomerang’s volunteer and staff scheduling and communication solution.
Bloomerang implemented self-service shift sign-ups (including copying shifts across days), centralized volunteer profiles and hours, and broadcast/SMS messaging plus check‑in tracking for on-site updates. As a result, Bloomerang significantly reduced time spent on phone calls and emails, improved visibility of who was on-site, decreased no-shows with automatic reminders, and streamlined schedule changes and coverage during the festival.
