Affirmations LGBTQ+ Community Centre, which provides programs, recovery support, and safe spaces for the LGBTQ+ community, faced a time-consuming volunteer intake and scheduling process that relied on back-and-forth emails, manual background checks, and coordinators confirming shift availability. To streamline screening, recruiting and volunteer communications, the organization adopted Bloomerang’s volunteer management platform.
Bloomerang enabled Affirmations to send template signup emails with registration links, let volunteers self-schedule and unschedule, coordinate staffing in-app with roster and calendar views, and simplify staff-to-volunteer communication. The change freed staff to engage volunteers more meaningfully, reduced administrative overhead, and now supports 161 volunteers across 10 venues and 438 shifts—delivering faster coordination and improved volunteer engagement.
