A Bloomerang Fundraising Case Study
The Sharing Center, a local nonprofit serving neighbors in need since 1986, faced a sudden surge in demand for food and resources after widespread layoffs during the COVID-19 pandemic. With social distancing cancelling in-person events and donations, the organization needed a fast, contact-free way to restock pantry shelves and raise funds, so they moved a cancelled event into a seven-day virtual format and began planning longer-term online campaigns.
Using Qgiv’s peer-to-peer platform and online store, the Sharing Center launched a Virtual Pantry (mock grocery store) and converted their luncheon into a board-led peer-to-peer campaign—finalizing the idea on March 31 and launching the next day. The effort raised over $355,000 (including $106,000 processed through Qgiv), attracted many new donors and former cash/check supporters to give online, and enabled the Center to serve about 30 additional families per day.
