A Bloomerang Fundraising Case Study
Purple Plunge is a community-run winter fundraiser in Lake Zurich where volunteers and locals brave an icy dip to raise money for people affected by cancer. Founded in 2014, the event faced the challenge of scaling fundraising and event operations while keeping its local focus as it formalized into a 501(c)(3).
Purple Plunge adopted Qgiv’s peer-to-peer platform and event tools—team pages with social sharing, leaderboards, an event builder, Mobile Virtual Terminal and card readers, plus a peer-to-peer store—to simplify fundraising, registration, and on-site payments. The result: growth from 50 plungers raising $11,000 in 2014 to more than 180 plungers and nearly $50,000 in 2017 (123% of goal), plus smoother transactions and strong support from Qgiv.
