A Bloomerang Fundraising Case Study
The Hearing, Speech, and Deaf Center (HSDC) serves children and families in Washington State with audiology, speech, interpreting, and early-education programs. Their annual peer-to-peer 5K proved too big, expensive, and geographically inconvenient for the young families they serve, producing poor ROI and limited participation until a parent suggested a shorter, family-friendly alternative.
HSDC relaunched the event as the Froggy Fun Run, a morning 1K at a local park with department booths, a stamp-card scavenger hunt, ASL story times, and kid-friendly activities—keeping costs under $2,000 and directing funds to early-learning scholarships and the Parent-Infant Program. The streamlined, community-focused format doubled participation, raised $14,755 (123% of goal), and leveraged simple tools like Qgiv to simplify registration and donor engagement.
